Milwaukee Light Engineering Society

Welcome to Milwaukee Light Engineering Society

The Milwaukee Light Engineering Society (M.L.E.S) was founded in 1969, is open to all hobbyists interested in mechanical devices and all phases of their construction. M.L.E.S also helps to preserve the history of these mechanical devices, in the construction of small-scale operating models. Major areas of interest include large scale railroading, traction and stationary engines. The society provides members with fellowship, guidance and a sounding board for ideas, design and technical solutions.

About Railroad Park

The Milwaukee Light Engineering Society owns seven acres of land about 25 miles Northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Railroad Park is located in the Town of Jackson, North of Pioneer Road (CTY C) at 2620 North Country Aire Drive (CTY M). It provides members who own large scale steam and diesel locomotives a place to operate their equipment. This is not an amusement park for public entertainment, but is available for public visits on designated run days and special event evenings. The park primarily serves for the enjoyment of the Society’s members, their families and friends.

The members of M.L.E.S have constructed more than 5280 feet of 7 1/2 inch gauge track, with another 1800 feet of sidings, spurs, train yards and storage tracks. This gives Railroad Park one full mile of mainline: that is 8 scale miles in 1 1/2 scale railroading. There are several bridges spanning the creek that runs through the property, and a variety of routed that can be traveled by the trains.

Activities at Railroad Park take place May through October. Members are able to run trains at their leisure. Track maintenance work gatherings are organized as necessary.
